A look at how craft can be used as a tool to work through a process of self exploration and rediscovery. It also covers the use of alter egos in art and craft as a method of self expression. This is a talk that has gained excellent reviews on how it has changed peoples’ way of looking at life and how their creative practice can be a tool in moving forwards to a positive future.
Crafting climate change
Exploring the relationship between making and living within the fragile environment around us and how the way we work can be adapted to be more in tune with the world. This talk also looks at the way practice has changed and the habits makers have developed over the past century. Craftivism as a method of climate activism is discussed.
Nobody (and nothing) is perfect
How wabi sabi can allow us to free up out thinking and embrace our own imperfections. This talk takes us back to our roots and allows us to look deeply onto nature and realise that true beauty comes from the imperfections. In doing so it frees us up to be ourselves and relax. This makes us more peaceful, happier and in turn productive people. More in tune with the world around us and content with what we have.
Talks can be done via Zoom or booked for future dates in person.
At your venue – £150 plus travel. A presentation will be provided and a display of work. Items relating to the talk for sale can also be brought along. The talk lasts about 1 hour with questions.
Via Zoom – £75 with presentation, £100 if you wish a display of work as well. You can add a workshop/demo to the presentation for £75 (ie. £150 total) The talk is about 1 hour total with questions. If you want a demo/craft along this would be 1 1/2 hours total.
